Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has once again taken aim at the central government, mocking US President Donald Trump’s repeated assertions of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan—now, reportedly for the 26th time.
Sharing Trump’s latest post on X, Ramesh highlighted that while mediating a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand amid their ongoing border dispute, Trump again referred to his alleged role in resolving India-Pakistan tensions.
“President Trump is now mediating between Cambodia and Thailand and is using the opportunity to make the claim—for the 26th time—on a US-brokered ceasefire between India and Pakistan,” Ramesh remarked sarcastically.
In his posts on Truth Social on Saturday (local time), Trump drew comparisons between the Cambodia-Thailand conflict and the India-Pakistan standoff, claiming both were resolved due to US intervention. He emphasized how trade negotiations were leveraged to bring both sides to the table.
The Congress leader’s remarks came amid heightened criticism of the Modi government over recent incidents including the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. Ramesh alleged that India’s diplomatic failures were becoming more apparent, calling the Prime Minister’s rapport with Trump “hollow.”
He further noted that since May 10, 2025, Trump had claimed no fewer than 25 times to have intervened personally in Operation Sindoor, even threatening both India and Pakistan with trade consequences if the conflict didn’t end.
“The PM’s clean chit to China on June 19, 2020, has already cost India heavily. His much-boasted friendship with President Trump is now proving to be hollow,” Ramesh posted.
The remarks underline the Congress party’s ongoing offensive against the Modi government, particularly in light of repeated international statements that challenge India’s diplomatic narrative.
